Warren Ellis is one of the best writers in comics (Planetary, Transmetropolitan, Doctor Sleepless) but for some reason that skill never quite translates into mainstream superheroes. I believe Phil Jimenez is the second best artist to work on the X-Men, after John Byrne and ahead of Jim Lee, but here his art can't rise above the overly convoluted source material.
