The Time Machine - Greg Bear, H.G. Wells Time Machine can be read as a rather ponderous adventure story, but there is a lot of late nineteenth century social criticism going on here behind the tropes of Science Fiction. I tend to shy away from Marxist interpretation, but it is hard to read the Eloi as anything other than lazy bourgeoisie and the Morlocks as a nightmarish proletariat.
