Bendis has been so successful in mainstream superhero comics that as a result he is somewhat underrated as a writer. Powers is a clever concept that is well executed and never predictable. Sometimes I think Bendis is so determined to be unpredictable that he writes himself into corners, but it is his story to tell. Oeming's art could be dismissed at first glance as too cartoonish for this kind of noir material, but it is only cartoonish in the way Alex Toth was cartoonish and he was a master storyteller. Oeming definitely follows in the Toth school of storytelling.
