Set in New Orleans, an ex-nun and a funeral home employee cook up a plan to steal millions of dollars from the Nicaraguan Contras. Leonard is a master of character and dialogue, and he hit his creative peak with a series of crime novels in the mid-1980's of which Bandits is one of the best.
