Roger Corman's Lost Classic

Nemo: River of Ghosts - Alan Moore, Kevin O'Neill

An elderly Captain Nemo leads her crew on one last voyage up the Amazon in pursuit of her old nemesis Queen Ayesha. Instead she finds a group of escaped Nazi scientists cranking out Boys from Brazil and Ayesha clones. The Nazis have used Rotwang's mechanical woman technology to build an army of Stepford Wives, referred to at one point as bikinitrons, that are like refugees from a Roger Corman sexploitation flick. Nemo's bodyguard is a massive character that looks like a cross between Li'l Abner and Popeye and seems to be taken from an English comic strip that Alan Moore read in his childhood. Recognizing Moore's references is like studying James Joyce because you have to be familiar with everything Moore ever read in his life in order to follow the references. How else can you explain the Golliwog from Black Dossier?
