For their second storyline new comic book characters typically have a team-up with the most popular character at their publisher. For DC characters that is usually Batman, at Marvel it used to be Spider-Man but is currently Wolverine. After her obligatory Wolverine team-up Ms. Marvel has a far more interesting team-up with Lockjaw the giant teleporting dog from the Inhumans. Why Lockjaw has superpowers is a longstanding mystery. I am a proponent of the theory that Lockjaw is actually a human who was changed into a dog-like creature by the Terrigen Mists, but I know that is not Marvel canon.
Mild rant with spoilers follows. Ms. Marvel is up against a villain called the Inventor who wants to use teenagers as batteries in his robots. Ms. Marvel delivers a stirring speech to the kids urging them not to give up on their generation and become part of a machine. I know this is all metaphorical, but the idea of using humans as batteries is really dumb. Humans require large amounts of food, water, exercise, and metal stimulation to stay alive and healthy. Actual batteries do not require any of those things. Using humans as batteries is extremely inefficient as humans will never generate more energy than they consume. I know the idea was also a metaphor when it was used in The Matrix films, but it still does not make any sense.
