Serenity: Leaves on the Wind - Zack Whedon

Leaves on the Wind takes up the story directly after the events of the Serenity film. Half the galaxy is searching for Malcolm Reynolds and company. The Alliance wants them dead for exposing the atrocity of planet Miranda and the surviving Brown Coats want Reynolds to lead a new rebellion. As always the crew of Serenity are running out of money and supplies while trying and failing to maintain a low profile.

If you loved the Firefly TV show you will love this story as well. It has the same blend of Science Fiction tropes, Western style storytelling and oddly philosophical undertone that made the TV show so unique and probably doomed it to cancellation before the end of the first season. The art is provided by Georges Jeanty who also drew the Buffy Season 8 comics that picked up the story of that show after its cancellation. Jeanty's art makes the characters completely recognizable as their live action counterparts. The final result reminds me why I miss Firefly so much.
